According to a study conducted by the lecturers involved in teaching the subject, the majority of the students agreed they had benefited from the subject, said civilisational studies lecturer Sri Rahayu Ismail of UPM's Human Ecology Faculty.
"More than 90% of the respondents agreed they understood the main concept of ethnic relations while more than 80% said they understood the actual situation of ethnic relations in Malaysia .
To another question, more than 90% of them said they were aware of the ethnic relations issues in the country.
However, the students also came up with suggestions on how they wanted the subject to be tackled, such as by including ethnic relations topics from other countries, having open discussions on the subject and relating the subject to contemporary issues, locally and globally, she said.
So, for the conclusion, are UMP students also agreed with the statements given by UPM students or they think this subject not so important to them, then they can leave this subject behind and focus only on their major subjects.Let's us think back and look to the future, are Malaysia will live in harmony and peace in the next 10 years after??
